My Second Wedding

Tonight was my second wedding of the season and it was beautiful! The ceremony was traditional and there were 15 people in the wedding party! The reception was absolutely gorgeous! There were white table linens with white overlays and tan runners. The centerpieces consisted of different orange and white flowers with green leaves and branches. There were tea lights and candles which created such a unique mood. This wedding left me so inspired and even more excited for the upcoming weddings! Please feel free to check out the amazing photographer's blog: Amy Wellenkamp to see even more pictures from this magical event.

My First Wedding

Yesterday afternoon, April 17 2010, I was lucky enough to take part in Ryan and Jessica's wedding at Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort. This event was unique in many aspects and taught me a lot about the industry.

1. Always be prepared to do anything.
2. Always be prepared to be asked anything.
3. Always be prepared to pick your battles.
4. Always form close relationships with the local vendors and they will have your back.

One of the best parts of the evening was when the father of the bride and the cousin of the bride approached me to tell me how much of a natural I am at planning weddings. That made me get more excited about (hopefully) becoming a wedding planner one day. This is the job I want and I am determined to get there.

Here are some pictures from the magical evening. This couple asked each guest to bring a mask to their wedding and the last pictures is of the whole group. Enjoy the pictures and get ready for wedding #2 next weekend!

The Wrong Major

It breaks my heart to admit that I have spent almost three whole years in the wrong major and would do anything to change to a Recreation, Parks, and Tourism major focusing on special events. The two event planning courses that I am enrolled in currently are the first two courses at Cal Poly that I can say I am truly interested in and enjoy doing the homework. For instance, we are doing a project right now where we get to plan any event, any place, with any budget! How much more creative can it get? I am putting my internship skills to use for this assignment and am going to plan a country wedding in Texas!

Speaking of weddings and my internship, the first wedding is next Saturday and I cannot wait for the big day! I will be sure to come back with lots of good stories and tips!
